Location

MeMe's Restaurant

The restaurant is located on the main road. It’s easy to get to and the sign is easy to see, but it’s also easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. There is a good amount of parking. It doesn’t have a parking lot with clear lines, but parking wasn’t a problem. It’s easy to get in and out of the parking lot.

Atmosphere

It feels like a country diner. It has tables and booths. We sat in a booth. We weren’t sure if we were supposed to sit or wait for someone to greet us. Someone did tell us to sit anywhere we wanted after a few seconds of waiting.

The menu is 4 pages and covers a lot of diner plates with country food. The menu includes main dishes, sides, all-day breakfast, and kids’ meals. The hardest part was narrowing it down.

Food Quality and Portions

The food was well-cooked and there was more than enough on each plate. Some of the side items were kept separate in small dishes. This kept the food from touching and the juices getting into the wrong places.

Wait Staff

The wait staff was attentive. Definitely has a bit of a Southern hospitality feel. They expect you to come on in and have a seat and most of the time any waitress that passes your table stops and checks on you. We actually had 3 different people check on us and bring us drinks.

Randy’s Thoughts

I got the lunch special. It was meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra, and cornbread. I had sweet tea.

The ketchup on the meatloaf was sweet and had a good flavor. I liked the mashed potatoes, but I didn’t care for the gravy. I’m a fan of fried okra and I get it anytime it’s an option. This was as good as any. The sweet tea was excellent. It was sweet, but not too sweet. I could drink a lot of it and not feel like I’ve had too much sugar.

I also tried Lucinda’s fried apples. They tasted like they were fresh apples, not canned. I loved the taste and I’ll get them on my next visit.

Would you go back? Yes. If I was in the area, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose Meme’s Restaurant again. I want to try their breakfast and a dessert.

Lucinda’s Thoughts

I liked how friendly and attentive the wait staff was. Whichever one was coming by your table would bring refills or check if you needed anything. The fried apples were the best I have had in any restaurant; homemade, well seasoned, and sweet without being drowned in sticky syrup. The greens had a touch of an oily taste but everything else was good enough to want to order it again.

Would you go back? Definitely, I’d go back just for the apples. There were a lot of things on the menu that sounded good, so next time I’ll try something new and be sure to order apples on the side.
